Been surfing the internet for a while on this boring Sunday evening and found out these particular webbies that are pretty informative :

My interpretation of Hell Money would be...if one believes in Hell or "The Other World", there shall be currency for trade. My grand mother passed away recently and we have burnt like tonnes of gold, silver joss paper folded into the shape of a nugget. The thought of something disappeared from our present world e.g. turned into ashes must have traveled to another dimension, hence the link to the other world (or Hell as some believes).

The thing that kept me wondering was...who dictates the "single currency" and who the hell manages the "Hell Bank"? If one believes in another world, obviously all races should have equal chance of traveling to "that place". Are we having USD Hell Money by any chance?

Though I am not sure abt who runs the hell bank etc, I do believe there is life after death. Therefore I will never forget to burn paper offerings for my loved ones, esp in impt Chinese festivals.
