Young Buddhists

I am glad to find another young Buddhist here.

Both of us felt that most people always think Buddhists are old folks who are supersitious.

Maybe only staunch Buddhists, regardless of ages and races (most Indians are Buddhists and vegetarians too!) would understand.

But one thing I had to agree with my friends and family is that the burning of joss paper, money and other paper products are NOT actually necessary. The Buddhist Sutras which I had read do not teach us to burn such stuff. Another alternatives would be to be a vegetarian or an occassional vegan, offer vegetarian food or fruits to temples or monks and maybe to donate generously to the poor and needy.

Simple and basics for Buddhist-wannabes :

Yours faithfully,

  • Hey.. I am a buddhist too... the burning of paper products, setting altars for ancestors are taoism practices... and Buddhism is more like a teaching, or a way... than a religion. Be kind and there will be good karma.

    Good luck!
