2 lobangs knocking on my door at the Same Time

Guess what ?

Tomorrow should be my last day at work but my manager requested me to "help her out" on a "daily-rated" basis after my official last working day, since I have yet to secure a new permanent job. Just a good 15 minutes or so earlier, my very good friend from school roped me in to assist her in her shop too ! For SGD 7.00 an hour, starting this Sunday ! I do not know what will the arrangements be like for my current permanent job's "daily-rates" but my boss suggested that I either work from 0900-1730hr or 0900-1500 hours so that I can go for my new job interview/s. The new staff (they claimed that they have yet to source for one) replacing me may go onboard in December but I have made myself clear to them that I may not work for the whole of November.

Actually, I felt a little flattered and honoured because it proved that I am WANTED and can be of some use to the company. Most importantly, it is to prove to my friends and acquaintances that I was not sacked /fired/ unwanted by my company okie !!! :)

But on the downside, it feel a bit "loo-gee" (at the losing end) because as a "daily-rated staff" working for them temporarily, I assume I do not receive any CPF contributions benefits (I want my CPF!!) or bonuses (that is, if they still have bonuses lah, given that the aviation businesses are hitting a plateau). I thought I also wanted to use this free time to take a break; go for massages, spas, gym sessions, a short trip to Malaysia and KTVs on weekday afternoons as they are cheaper.

I do feel a bit obligated to "help" my current manager since there are only herself and other colleague of mine in our department and they are sort-of clearing their annual leave before the end of this year. On the other hand, working for my good old pal may be physically more challenging, given that her shop operates retail-hours etc, but it may be more relaxed & enjoyable working for her than my current colleagues (though they do treat me better now).

What should I do ?

Updated : I have decided to take up BOTH temporary jobs till I secure a permanent one as the 2 former jobs are flexible and I could leave anytime too ^_^
P.S. : My current co has decided to pay me CPF for the temp workdays too !!

MISSHA

Gee.... how I adore this Korean sweety !
Affordable, chic & fragrant !!

I just bought a dual mini green tea brightening mask, green tea footcare lotion, daily sun care cream (SPF 20),
an orange-flavoured series of eye cream and a cherry & berry body lotion that smells extremely fruity-tutti & candy-baby !

Is the brand pronounced as Miss Ha or Mis Sha ??
I assume it should be called Miss Ha as there is such a Korean surname "Ha". Or maybe a so-called Miss Ha started this beauty business in 2000 ?

This, this, this & this seem very delicious ! Delicious enough to be eaten !

A Mixture of Thoughts Swirming in my Head

I am SO BORED and ENG (aka F-R-E-E) in the office right now. Nothing much to do but cannot look so free also -_- There is a pair of eyes scrutinising me most of the time as I am typing this entry.... (my immediate 40 year-old colleague who sits in a cubicle just in front of me always suspects that I am surfing undesirable websites or chatting on msn while at work, while she herself is either yakking on the office phone, msn-ing or checking her personal emails !)

Nevertheless, I am also relieved,

happy,

&

confused

Relieved because I am going to leave the job I do not wanna be stuck with for the rest of my working life.

Happy because I have anticipated a long-awaited holiday to KL with my dear pals, made some commission in my part-time job recently and therefore winning the trust and respect of my bosses and colleagues. I guess I have a BIG EGO within me ! I think I am a MAN living in a lady's body ! Anyway, I am also a bit elated coz my birthday is approaching but at the same time a little sad and worried because I am getting older age-wise :(

By the way, does anyone know where to get a hand-carry luggage's zip fixed ? The zipper was apparently lost during my April Bangkok trip and I had "left it aside" till I wanted to use it again.... I prefer centralised locations eg Toa Payoh, Bishan etc coz I stay around there and do not want to tug a carrier around all over town. Hopefully, the fee is not too expensive too, say less than S$10 ?

Thanks, folks !

A Day for Friends

I dun have to work this weekend ! Whoppeee !

Having slept at 4am the previous (Friday) nite (went out for supper with a friend near my place till 2330hr and then chatted on msn with a couple of friends), I was still in bed at ten plus the next morning when I heard a beep from my hp, for an earlier sms. It was a message sent at around 08:40hr ! My friend, H wanted to ask if I will be free for lunch near my place at 1130hr or so.

We arranged for lunch at noon and eventually met up at 1220hr, due to my delaying (gotta wash up, read newspapers etc). Hehehe....

As it was a rather hot and humid day, H suggested to having MacDonald's instead of a decent lunch at the coffeeshop. Spent a whopping SGD 6.30 for 4 miserable McWings, a packet of medium fries and an ice lemon tea. Dun really take fast food mah.... I usually take the MacFillet fish burger or McChicken burger coz I am not really a red-meat eater.

After lunch, we parted ways and I went home to watch the DVDs that I have bought last month but with little time to watch. It's such a cozy and lazy Saturday afternoon :)

Soon, nite falls and Janice suggested for a KTV singing session at Bishan CC. I have not sang and met up with her for quite sometime, so I agreed to met up with her, together with Rebecca.

I guess most of the more popular songs in the KTV are those that were sang by some Project Superstar's contestants. Eg JJ林俊杰's 江南 ,Jacky Cheung aka 张学友's 我真的受伤了,Coco 李文's 被爱的女人, 光良's 童话, Jay 周杰伦's 借口. All were very nicely sang by the "Superstars" and the way they sang was still vividly fresh in my memory. Especially when the singing contest's winner Kelvin Tan Weilian sang Jacky Cheung aka 张学友's 我真的受伤了. Tears just kept flowing when I heard him sing live over the local telly.

By midnight, after Janice took her last feeder bus home, Rebecca and myself decided to try our luck in waiting for our last buses respectively.

0000hr: Bus 54 came and went.
0015hr: Buses 55, 58 and 88 came and went off too.
0030hr: Buses 88 and those NR midnite buses came and went off too.

Alas ! By 0045hr, no more buses came.

Rebecca and myself ended up slurping hot Nissin instant noodles bought from the nearby 7-eleven at the bus-stop, in a very Korean or Japanese drama manner.

We chatted a bit before finally hailing a cab together for home sweet home.

Sorry for this "essay-sort of entry" reporting my past day's activities.

I guess I am just plain bored today. And moody too :(

Somehow Decided...

Somehow, somewhat, I have decided to stick with my current job of 2 months plus.

I had considered a great deal before I quit my last (slightly better paying) job and joined this, so I should not regret it mah !

At least, this job is a stepping stone to a better one !

So I reckon I'd better gain some relevant experience and perhaps take up a related 6 months foundation course (forking up my own hard earned money) in order to progress up.

I do agree that at most times, I am rather indecisive and easily swayed by others' decisions and suggestions.

But, ultimately, I am the bloke who lives my own life, be it a better or worse one. And I only get to live once.

I wished that there was someone prominent to advise me on my career path while I was still in school.

How ironic it is to earn a local engineering diploma but not to fully ultilize it !

Yours truly,
little miss sacred

To choose over $ or interest in a job ?

When one was younger, one will normally be clueless about their future career.

Some join the work force blindly and end up quitting unhappily after working for sometime.

Sometimes, interest is one thing, money is another.

If your interest in the job takes you nowhere far, I think money will be the next priority.

Recently, I have been wondering; if I were to switch to another profession, I might earn more. If I remain stagnant, I might become like this forever :(

I think I am at a cross roads now, for I am neither here nor there.

What should I do ???
