I feel empty

Today is the day I turn 2X years old. This shall be the last year I look forward to spending my birthday with friends. Well, I am afraid of growing old day by day, year by year. How superficial I am, you say ! Yeah, I know I am vain but which woman isn't ??

I started my day at half past 11 in the morning by going for a free facial at a certain beauty salon in town, courtesy of my friend H who just signed up for a certain bank's credit card. I should say that the service was reasonably good, the shoulder and face massage was superb and the staff there are friendly (at least to me). The managress even wished me "Happy birthday" and added that she'll offer another 10% discount for me if I sign up for one of the packages she had planned for me (as usual!!). Politetly, I smiled and lamented that I would consider first. Phew ! Luckily, she was not that pushy.

Come afternoon, 3 of my friends from school and myself sang our hearts out in K-Box at Orchard Cineleisure, took some funny pics and then proceeded to Hard Rock Cafe for dinner.

Although I know that November is the month of many people's birthdays, be it people I know or celebrities like Ethan Hawke (6 Nov), Courtney Thorne-Smith (8 Nov), Bonnie Raitt (8 Nov), Demi Moore (11 Nov), Leonardo DiCaprico (11 Nov), Shawn Yu Man Lok (13 Nov), British Prince Charles (14 Nov), local Mediacorp artiste Chew Chor Meng (20 Nov), HK artiste Vivian Chow, I never knew that there are at least 5 or 6 people's birthdays today dining at Hard Rock ! We all share the birthday on the great 8th day of November ! Scorpions rule !!

There were even live band performances dedicating English songs to those who are spending their birthdays in the restuarant and the dimly-lit ambience was just nice and romantic for courting couples enjoying fine dining there. Jen or Joe even spotted a guy on bended knees with a bunch of red roses, presumbly prosposing to his girlfriend ! We assumed that the lucky girl had agreed to his "proposal" as they both hugged and had a brief kiss shortly after. What a romantic way to ask for a girl's hand in marriage !

Just as I felt happy for the elated couple, clouds of loneliness and emptiness overcame me. After all these years of waiting for the right guy, he came along and was the one who treated me the best. However, it was just not meant to be.
